Conference "Transforming Europe: The green deal in a new context", May 3-4, 2022
Keynote Michael Jacobs - Setting the scene: The green deal in a new geopolitical context With the Russian war on the Ukraine we are facing a paradigmatic shift. This will not only have implications on the global order but also on our economic system. As the recent IPCC has shown: the challenges of the social-ecological transformation have not disappeared. In light of this new context, we believe that is now more important than ever to rethink the Green Deal. For its success all domains of policymaking need to be aligned and coherent: monetary, fiscal and regulatory. So far, contradictions abound between piecemeal and sometimes contradictory or simply insufficient policy proposals. With this conference, Heinrich-Böll-Foundation, Finanzwende Recherche and ZOE. Institute for future-fit economies want to explore the interdependencies between the different domains of policymaking and between environmental and social agendas and thereby define a European agenda beyond the EU Green Deal.
